The Pleasure Gäng
Beware of the PLEASURE GÄNG! That means: beware of the paranormal creativity of the four Düsseldorfer.
All the members of this group are autodidacts with continuous output. They can simply everything: they create graphic and graffiti, illustrations and installations, performances and even textile design. Humor also belongs to their repertoire. Since 2003 the GÄNG have been surprizing the public with their style diversity. They reflect themselves and their roots and at the same time they emancipate from them and have a distant view on their development.
The main idea of their exhibition „Wir schreiben Geschichte“ („We write [hi]story“) is not the presentation of the traditional graffiti, but narration of the graffiti history using various techniques, media and motives. They tell the viewer about the fascination and absurdity of the graffiti subculture, which is now a permanent part of the city surface and which is even selebrated as the largest art movement in the history.
