Finissage : I have a dream

December 11, 2007

Until the 21st December Suki Bamboo's exhibition is guest in the Pretty Portal gallery.

On the last day we will, in pre-christmassy mood, do a finnisage with gingerbread and mulled wine, at which the artist will be again present in the gallery.

From 18 o'clock on, we are looking forward to  cozily complete the first year of our gallery with friends and everybody else who is interested.

dust in the Showcase

December 05, 2007

Last week the artist dust has visited us here at our gallery and has brought along some vinyl-figures from his current collection. At once they found their way into the showcase and they are also a little teaser to the dust exhibition in 2008.

"u make my world colorful"

November 16, 2007

Last Friday numerous visitors came to the vernissage of Suki Bamboo's exhibition "I have a dream" to our gallery.
The artist from the Swiss had brought along a collection of her illustrations, photographs and some wood works.

With the request "u make my world colorful"  Bianca Litscher aka Suki Bamboo had also brought along one picture, that could be painted in by the visitors of the exhibition.

That picture can be painted in onward till the end of the exhibition.

Next to the pictures there are also t-shirts, comics, posters, pinpackages
and prints on laminate, which you can get here at the gallery.

Anticipation...

October 31, 2007

..is the greatest of  all pleasures, they say. We anticipate most definitely, because in ten days Suki Bamboo opens her exhibition "I have a dream, the wonderful world of Suki Bamboo" at the Pretty Portal.

To edge down the waiting time, here's a little teaser to what the visitor can expect from the 9th November on.

Suki Bamboo is an active sprayer since 1992 and since then has continuously developed her style onward. With the two swiss writers Shark and Mate she was part of the international Graffiti Stick Up Kids, to which among other things the two german Graffiti-artists DAIM and Can2 were part of.
As Zora she also made a name for herself in the music scene as a rap artist. From 1993 to 2002 she published a total of 13 sound carriers, among them is also a cooperation with the german rap artist Thomas D.

You can find more infos about Suki Bamboo, aka  Zora  here.

At the vernissage on 9th November Suki Bamboo will be supported by Philipp Otterbach, who, with his unconventional DJ style, importantly embossed some events.

Vernissage HIT YOUR HOOD

September 24, 2007

While outside on the Brunnenstreet the „Rheinbahn“(german railway company) teared  the asphalt of the street apart and laid open the railway of the trolley-car, Ben Mathis, Jerome Pflüger and Andreas Kopp opened their exhibition „Hit your Hood“.

The Hoodcompaneros  had developed small starterpacks for streetartists especially for this Vernissage. The so-called Hitpack included a mask, a  glove, as well as a large caliber marker.

The happening was a big success. Ben Mathis could not only dispose all of his Hitpacks to woman and man. He also convinced all the buyers to try out the Hitpack and after that he enticed them in front of the camera of Robin Brückmann. You can find Robin's Portrait-pictures of the newly-made
streetartists  here.

The visitors saw sculptures and canvas art  by Ben Mathis, canvas art by Jerome Pflüger and canvas art and Graffiti Food (Mortadella and Cheese Stencils) by Andreas Kopp at the exhibition.

The exhibition can be visited until  2nd  September 2007, Monday till Friday from 3 to 6 pm.

You can find pictures of the exhibition here.

"Rheinbahn" hits the hood

September 14, 2007

Directly in front of our frontdoor the "Rheinbahn" (a German railway company)
dabbles in its own Streetart and therefore tears all Railways out of the ground.  The martial impressions are accompanied with an infernal jackhammer- soundperformance, which turned our stay at the gallery in the last few days into a very special experience.

Against the destroyed ground in front of our gallery we subtended the "Mutterboden"(transl.:topsoil). The at the "Open Source Festival" created work by Ben Mathis can be viewed until Thursday at the Pretty Portal.

"Mutterboden" is also a small foretaste to the exhibition "Hit your Hood" by the Hoodcompaneros Andy Kopp, Ben Mathis and Jerome Pflügler, which will be opened next Friday at 7 pm. The visitor can expect next to the exhibits some delicious Graffiti-Fingerfood, DJ Freaky Flow and a Photo action, in which the visitors can immortalize themselves as Street-Vandals.

"Mutterboden"

August 27, 2007

It was really nice,..the weather, the many people, the pokergame, the music, Ben Mathis' happening with the beer crates....here are a few impressions of and around our booth at the Open Source Festival.

Pretty Portal at the "Open Source"

August 21, 2007

The Open Source Festival approaches more and more. Pretty Portal is glad to take part with an own booth at this wonderful Open Air event at the Löricker Strandbad.

Because we liked the idea about the Beer-Crate-Battle so much, we will build two walls made of beer crates, which will be painted over by the artists Ben Mathis  (Hoodcompany,Düsseldorf) and Suki Bamboo (Zürich) in the course of the day. Both artists can be viewed with their exhibitions  this year at our Gallery.

For the Streetartists amongst you, we will bring some electrical panels with us, which  we will arrange  around our booth, so you can prettify them with your pens, spray cans and stickers. So bring along your best stickers. Pens and spray cans are at place.

Last but not least we'll do continuous "Sit and Go" Hold'em tournament. In rounds  á 10 players you can prove your Poker abilities. No Buy-In, who comes first, plays first...
